John Robert Powers (JRP) alum Lucas Till plays Sheriff's Deputy Dormer in Clean Hands, a drama drawn from the real story of a Hagerstown, Maryland narcotics sergeant and his daughter, which opens in select theaters and on demand Friday, October 16, 2026. JRP Virtual, A Casting Call, Inc. Company, is recognizing the release as part of its ongoing celebration of performers who got their start at JRP.
Zach Braff stars as Sgt. Kevin Simmers, who runs a drug task force in a city on the "Heroin Highway" while his 19-year-old daughter, Brooke (Esther McGregor), fights an addiction that escalates from pain pills to heroin. Abigail Spencer plays Kevin's wife, Dana, and Holt McCallany plays Maryland Congressman David Trone. Writer and director Jake Allyn (Ride) premiered the film at the 2026 Tribeca Festival, after which Vertical picked up North American distribution rights.
The film was made in partnership with Brooke's House, the all-women recovery home Kevin Simmers created in Hagerstown. According to Deadline, graduates of Brooke's House were cast in the movie, and one third of the film's profits are to be dedicated to the home.
Till got his start at JRP. Audiences know him best for the title role in five seasons of CBS's MacGyver and for playing Havok in three X-Men films. His work also includes Walk the Line, Hannah Montana: The Movie, Son of the South, and Kurt Sutter's Netflix series The Abandons. Today, JRP Virtual, a Casting Call, Inc. company, continues the John Robert Powers legacy that began in 1923. At jrpvirtual.com, it offers aspiring actors, models, singers, and dancers online training and showcase opportunities that introduce them to industry professionals as they start out in the business.
"We are so proud to see Lucas in a film like Clean Hands," said Brigitte Blair, Director of Operations, JRP Virtual. "He has spent more than two decades showing up, doing the work, and growing as an actor, and that kind of dedication is exactly what we hope every young performer who trains with us takes to heart. Telling a true story this personal and this important is no small thing. Congratulations to Lucas and everyone behind Clean Hands."
Clean Hands is produced by Jake Allyn and Conor Allyn of Margate House Films, Brian Loschiavo of Riverside Entertainment, James Suttles and Jason Winn of WW / SF Entertainment, and JR Rappaport of Glasshouse Pictures, with Braff and Kevin and Dana Simmers among the executive producers. Vertical releases the film October 16, 2026.
